Even when we have learned to keep moving forward, parts of us still carry the weight of what we experienced. The journey after war is not about forgetting, it is about understanding, integrating, and transforming those experiences into a renewed sense of purpose.
The After War Project exists to help veterans answer those questions. Through peer coaching, mentorship, leadership development, and community, we create a pathway for veterans to reconnect with themselves and others. We believe that healing is not simply about reducing suffering—it is about building a meaningful life after understanding what suffering is.
Our mission is not to help veterans return to who they were before war. Our mission is to help them become who they are meant to be after it.

FOUNDED BY THE VETERANS OF THE THE AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL.
After War is a project created by Operation Allies Refuge Foundation, an organization founded by veterans who served during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and experienced firsthand the leadership failures, the moral injury, and lack of long-term support that followed. Built by those who were there, After War exists to restore meaning, develop leaders, and ensure veterans are not left to carry the aftermath alone.

This is not about returning to who you were before the military. It is about building the person you want to become after it. It is about taking the strengths forged through service—discipline, resilience, commitment, and leadership—and applying them to your family, your community, your career, and your future.
