BUILDING VETERAN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NATION
WE BUILD A PATH TO PURPOSE AFTER WAR GET STARTED TODAY
OUR CORE COMPONENTS
BUILDING VETERAN COMMUNITIES
BOOTS ON THE GROUND: MEETING THE VETERAN WHERE THEY ARE
We show up when it matters. Through direct, in-person engagement and peer support, we meet veterans in real life—not in systems or paperwork—and walk with them through transition and challenge.
CULTIVATING VETERAN LEADERSHIP
PERSONAL GROWTH AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
We help veterans rebuild identity, confidence, and direction after war. Through mentorship and leadership development, veterans grow from surviving to leading in their lives and communities.
A PROGRAM THAT NEVER ENDS
CONTINUMM OF CARE MODEL SUPPORTED THROUGH COMMUNITY
Support doesn’t end after one program. We provide ongoing, connected care through trusted peers and community so veterans are never left to navigate life after service alone.
THE VETERAN CHALLENGE
ISOLATION & ALIENATION
Without the daily presence of a team and shared purpose, many veterans feel disconnected from society, leading to withdrawal and silence.
NEGATIVE PERFORMANCE
Despite proven capability, many veterans stall after service because there is no clear mission, mentor, or structure to channel their drive into meaningful progress.
MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES
Struggles are often rooted in experiences that challenge a veteran’s values and identity, making them difficult to articulate and easy to misunderstand
LOSS OF PERSONAL IDENTITY
When identity has been built around service, its sudden absence can leave veterans questioning who they are and where they belong in the next chapter of life.
REINTEGRATION STUGGLE
Veterans frequently find that the skills and leadership styles forged in service are undervalued , creating frustration and loss of confidence during transition.
DEPRESSION/SUICIDAL IDEATION
For some veterans, prolonged isolation and loss of purpose can evolve into depression and suicidal thoughts—making early connection and sustained support critical.
OUR SOLUTION
The After War Project is not a remote program, a hotline, or a passive resource directory. We operate where veterans live—inside local communities—through direct engagement, consistent presence, and veteran-led action. The Project addresses the how of life after service—not with one-time programs, but with an integrated, veteran-led ecosystem focused on growth, leadership, and long-term support.

OUR PROGRAMS RESTORE PURPOSE AND LEADERSHIP WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES
FOUNDED BY THE VETERANS OF THE THE AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL.
After War is a project created by Operation Allies Refuge Foundation, an organization founded by veterans who served during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and experienced firsthand the leadership gaps, moral weight, and lack of long-term support that followed. Built by those who were there, After War exists to restore meaning, develop leaders, and ensure veterans are not left to carry the aftermath alone.
